How does a rice bran oil refinery plant work?

A rice bran oil refinery plant is a process that converts rice bran oil, which is extracted from the outer layer of rice grains, into a more refined and edible oil. The main steps of a rice bran oil refinery plant are as follows:

1. Degumming: This is the first stage, where the oil is mixed with water and phosphoric acid to remove the phosphatides, which are compounds that can cause the oil to become cloudy or rancid. The mixture is then separated by a centrifugal separator, and the gums are discarded.
2. Water Washing: This is the second stage, where the oil is washed with hot water to remove any excess phosphoric acid that was added in the previous stage. The water and oil are again separated by a centrifugal separator, and the water is discarded.
3. Vacuum Drying: This is the third stage, where the oil is heated and flashed under vacuum to remove any traces of moisture that can affect the quality and stability of the oil. The dried oil contains less than 0.1% moisture.
4. Bleaching: This is the fourth stage, where the oil is heated and mixed with bleaching earth and activated carbon, which are substances that can absorb impurities, such as color, odor, and peroxides, from the oil. The mixture is then filtered to remove the bleaching earth and carbon.
5. De-waxing: This is the fifth stage, where the oil is cooled and crystallized to separate the waxes, which are solid or semi-solid substances that can make the oil cloudy or viscous at low temperatures. The waxes are then removed by a filter or a centrifuge.
6. Deodorization with Deacidification: This is the final stage, where the oil is heated and stripped of its free fatty acids and volatile compounds, such as aldehydes and ketones, that can cause unpleasant flavors and odors in the oil. This is done by injecting steam into the oil under high temperature and vacuum. The steam carries away the unwanted components, leaving behind a refined and deodorized rice bran oil.

I hope this helps you understand how a rice bran oil refinery plant works.
